Selecting PC equipment like GPU's and CPU's can be daunting if you dont know what your doing, a helpful tip for picking parts is choose your motherboard first, everything runs of your mother board, and you will have an easier time choosing pieces for your PC rather then selecting the parts first then finding out there not compatible with your motherboard.
Processor is the next important things, as there are multiple socket sets and stuff that are only compatible with certain sockets on motherboards like a 1155 socket processor wont work with a 2011 socket motherboard, you must match the sockets first. Ram is another issue that people might come across, as ram is clocked at different MHZ speeds and some motrherboards only support upto a certain amount of MHZ from its ram.
GPU's dont matters as much, however having a lower PCIE slot then the GPU is ment wont affect its compatibility but it will effect its performance usually in the form of not going as fast as it could. So a GPU that is meant for PCIE 3 will work but wont be as fast on a PCIE 2 slot.
